Royal Papworth Hospital is a leading heart and lung hospital, located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus in Cambridgeshire, England.Construction of the new Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge began in 2015. The 300 bed hospital is designed to combine a highly efficient clinical layout with a stunning external appearance.With 2,300 rooms, five operating theatres, five catheter laboratories, two hybrid theatres and a 46-bed critical care unit, the hospital is a world class facility for the area.The old hospital in Papworth Everard was founded in 1918 and is recognised as one of Europe’s leading heart and lung hospitals. The first successful heart transplant took place at the hospital as well as the world’s first successful heart, lung and liver transplant.
