To insulate the external wall, attach horizontal battens of the correct size at a maximum of 600mm centers, placing them at the top, bottom, and around doors or windows. Apply SuperFOIL horizontally to the battens with the built-in overlap pointing towards the floor, starting at the bottom and working upwards. While horizontal installation is recommended for added protection, it can be installed vertically with no adverse effects if necessary. If applying vertically, start at the highest point and roll the product down.
When fitting the insulation, keep the product taut while stapling at intervals of 50mm-100mm. Cut SuperFOIL to the required length, utilizing the built-in overlap and tape for a sealed finish. Trim the SuperFOIL at the floor and top of the area, allowing for a small overlap. Secure the product by fixing battens around the perimeter, creating an airtight finish. Ensure all tears or cuts are sealed fully using SuperFOIL Butyl tape or another suitable waterproof tape to achieve an airtight finish.
To complete the installation, add vertical counter battens of the correct size on top of the SuperFOIL to create an air gap. Fix the external finish onto the battens following the manufacturer’s recommendations, ensuring no section of SuperFOIL is exposed to the elements (should be covered within 48 hours after fitting).
