Our Certifications Have Changed & Why That’s a Good Thing

If you’ve been following our recent posts, you’ve no doubt noticed that we’ve been working hard to establish, develop, and upgrade some top-of-the-line British production facilities for our products; and that’s led us to some amazing new developments, such as our bespoke multifoil machine.

However, making all these changes means we’ve had to take a look at our certifications. So, let’s take a look at what’s happening to our certifications, why we made the choice to shift toward UK production, and what the future is going to bring for both…

What’s Happening with Our Certifications

If you’re familiar with SuperFOIL, then you’ll know that our products were previously covered by BBA Agrément certifications. However, the development and improvement of our new production facility in the UK led us to reconsider, and ultimately change the certifications in place for our products.

After all, as we continued to refine and upgrade our production process, we needed to ensure that we kept our testing and certification up to date with those changes. And that led us to investigate and consider whether our former approach to certification was the best way.

Ultimately, we made the decision to invest in KIWA BDA Agrément certification for our products instead. It was a costly process, including a wide range of tests and even a pair of comprehensive audits to assess both our quality control measures and the process of installing our products; but we believed that the benefits of this kind of certification would be well worth the cost.

And now, standing on the other side of it all, we’re proud to say that we’ve officially received KIWA BDA Agrément certification for our internal wall insulation system; which you can see for yourself on the official KIWA BDA Agrément® website, right here: https://www.kiwa.com/gb/en/about-kiwa/kiwa-bda-agrement-search/

Of course, this is just the beginning of our journey seeking certification through KIWA BDA, but before we get into speaking about what comes next, we thought we should take a moment to discuss why we’ve made this shift in the first place.

Why We’re Moving to UK Production

Given that it led to a massive, and costly, re-certification process, you might be wondering what led us to make this shift toward UK production in the first place — especially since the development of these new facilities was expensive in and of itself.

However, the bottom line is that we were focused on laying the foundation for benefits that were well worth the investment. So, let’s take a look at a couple of those benefits now…

Bringing Us Closer to Net Zero

Shifting to local production will massively reduce our environmental impact, allowing us to make great strides in our goal to reach Net Zero by 2050 or earlier.

After all, shifting to a local production facility helps us to massively cut down on the transportation of our products, since we won’t have to ship them nearly as far to reach our (largely UK-based) customers.

What’s more, by bringing our production facility closer to home, we can make it simpler to implement even more sustainability improvements — from reducing our waste production to increasing our use of renewable energy.

Boosting Our Local Economy

One of the biggest benefits of localising our production efforts is the fact that we will be creating more and more UK jobs as our business grows. Already we’ve seen our UK headquarters begin to grow, and as we grow we anticipate creating hundreds of new jobs in the years to come!

What’s more, this move has also enabled us to further support our local industry by developing — and investing in — a supply chain that relies heavily on local business. Speaking of local business, we’ve also been making huge strides in our aims to support the success of UK insulation installers though our Approved Installer Programme.

Ultimately, we believed that changing to a local production facility was the best thing — not just for our company, but for our customers, the local community, and the environment too.

What Happens Next?

In terms of our certifications, we intend to expand the range of our KIWA BDA Agrément certifications, securing individual certification for a number SuperFOIL Solutions, including (but not limited to)…

  • Product Specific Agréments
  • Room-In-Roof Insulation Agrément
  • Pitched Roof Insulation Agréments
  • Flat Roof Insulation Agréments
  • External Wall Insulation Agrément

After all, SuperFOIL products are ideal for a wide range of applications, and we want to ensure that you have access to top-quality solutions for any and all applications you are interested in.

Beyond that, however, we also plan to continue developing and improving our local production facilities — and our business as a whole — to ensure that we’ll be able to continue acting as a positive impact on the British insulation industry.

We’ll continue our efforts to improve the sustainability of our business and achieve Net Zero as soon as possible; and we’ll keep working to improve our ability to support and enhance local business across the UK. Especially through the Approved Installer Programme, which has already allowed us to develop a mutually beneficial relationship with hundreds of british installation businesses!

Above all else, we’ll continue working hard to change the way you insulate — for the better!
